After tremendous success of Baahubali 2, there was a new euphoria among all film makers across the country to make period movies with huge sets, grandeur, war scenes, high quality vfx and graphics. Even many movies were announced with huge budgets and star-cast assuming they can emulate Baahubali’s success.
Raabta which released this weekend and which got inspired from our very own Magadheera is a huge disaster at the box office. Collections dropped miserably as the audience outrightly rejected the movie. The scale of disaster of the movie according to trade pundits will make any movie maker fear to risk with high budget movies. Raabta makes one thing clear, it is not the story, promotions or budget that matters for the movie, but it is the movie making which grips the audience which matters the most.
Should wait and watch whether the producers who announced period films after Baahubali 2 will stick to their original plans or postpone them indefinitely.
